The Bird-Electron EZ17-B iPod Recycling Speaker is a clever little speaker system that uses the plastic packaging your iPod came in as the enclosure for the speaker. What a great way to reuse something that would more than likely end up in the trash.
“Bird-Electron presents this one and only Recycling Speaker for iPod. The dimension is exactly the same as the plastic package for iPod Nano (1st & 2nd Gen.) and iPod Shuffle (2nd & 3rd Gen.). Simply just place the speaker panel on top of the open box, and plug it into the iPod and play. Bird-Electron’s recycling speaker does not require any power source. You can also customize your own recycling speaker with any small container like a water bottle. Easy to install. Available only from Bird-Electron.”

What a useful slipper design by James Van Vossel for his eponymous line! The centre straps on FLIPS can be flipped in either direction, so they are always at the ready to be stepped into. Looks like there’s enough grip …
When we think Issey Miyake, we think more structured tailoring and fragrances, less dust bunnies and dirty carpeting. Truth is, we don’t really think of anyone in relation to the latter, except for maybe our mothers who would disapprove of the state of squalor our surroundings have devolved into. That’s all about to change. There’s a wind of change blowing in cleaning world and it’s not a result of the jet stream, but rather the result of a collaborative efforts of the stylish suction stalwarts at Dyson and the aforementioned Japanese designer. The two have come up with the DC16 limited edition (a.k.a “The Wind”), a super stylish handheld vac with twice the power of other handhelds, perfect for picking up the pieces from your latest posh party or just sanitizing your sofa region.
Boarders and bikers alike are rightfully drawn to designs by the inspired master shoesmiths at DC Shoes. While the company specializes in footwear for the extreme sports set, they’re also known for enlisting some of the world’s most fertile minds to collaborate on their creations, turning canvas sneakers into canvas works of art. In certain cases it’s not always advisable to wear your art where you might get it dirty, so the good folks at the Subtext store in San Diego have decided to make an exhibit out of some of their favorite custom designed footgear. The Kicks exhibition, presented by Subtext and DC Shoes, kicks off on January 25th and features super sweet shoe designs from some of our favorite artist pals like Colby Nichols and Josh Kenyon, amongst many others. So if you’re in the San Diego between January 25th and February 7th feel free to check it out as Subtext will be donating 25% of the gallery commissions to the Red Cross to help the families who were affected by the recent Southern California wildfires.
